My back is killing me.  Last night I dug another 20-odd pounds of potatoes out of our garden.  And I’m only a little more than halfway through!  I’d like to get through the rest of it within another two weeks, because they’re really ready.

Potato plants last week

This is what it was like a week ago.  I’ve done all of the first two rows and all but 4 or 5 plants in the third row.  Those were from the first crop.  Maybe tonight I will have to take a break from it because I was stiff as a board this morning.

It’s also Shakespeare Festival time in Cambridge, and I think some of the other predocs are going to see Midsummer Night’s Dream at St. John’s College.

Beautiful hot sunny days + flat terrain + weekends = geocaching.

I’ve been spending rather a lot of time outside on my bicycle, trekking around from cache to cache. One particularly fabulous day the weekend before last, I took the bus out to Fenstanton and hiked 14km to find 11 caches.

This is the view over Moore Lake from near one of the cache sites, with Fenstanton in the background.

Famous last words. But here I am, and here I be. Guess it’s because Col’s not around too much right now, but I felt the urge to start blogging again.

Why, you may ask, is my husband not around? I have a very good answer: he’s in a musical going to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival next week, and the cast has been rehearsing 12-13 hour days. I see him for an hour or so in the morning, and for a few minutes at night before I fall asleep. I’ve been baking muffins and cookies for the cast every few days - they seem most appreciative. What is this musical, you ask? I am proud to say that Colin is playing the villain of the piece, in Bat Boy: The Musical.

So I will do a few posts updating general lifey kinda stuff, and see if I can get the hang of this WordPress thing. I also tried installing a photo gallery tool but it has not worked so far as I can tell.
