I received the most entertaining e-mail this morning, forwarded from my cousin Dory, who kindly lets me use some of his hosting space. (Please note that all spelling errors are original!)

Legal issue - from to
DreamHost AbuseHello Dreamhost,
My name is Stefanie Michaels. I own the trademark Adventure Girl. I am having a legal issue with one of your clients. I am hoping that you can help me with this issue.
She has a blog on your server called Adventure Girl which is infringing on my trademark, and she is also using it with a copyright mark throughout her blog at the bottom of her pages. Becuase I use Adventure Girl prolifically through out my materials both in the media, periodicles and online at adventuregirl.com, and am actually trademarked in many areas and as a personality Advenutre Girl- the person, she can not use the term. I am asking that you contact this person on my behalf and ask her to please cease and desist this use of my mark on her blog. I would greatly appreciate it.
I suspect that my blog simply rose too high on the Google search results for the term “adventure girl” (astonishingly, on the first page of results), and suddenly was noticed. It’s rather strange, since I write this primarily for family and friends, and I somehow doubt there are that many people who actually read it.
Of course, not wanting to cause any trouble, I obliged with the request. You know, I’d never noticed the little copyright mark before - it must be auto-generated by my WordPress template from the blog title. It changed as soon as I typed in the new name. I suppose the title change is appropriate, really, since I hardly ever go on adventures any more.
